We have a new season over at Get Messy! This time it's a Season of Contrast. I am pretty excited for it. As many of the Messians have already mentioned, this is forming to be quite a deep and meaningful season.

Get Messy Art Journal is an art journaling program that is a school, art playground and family. We are a group of like minded art journalers who have come together under this art form to learn, share, practice our skills and push past our creative limits with hopes to inspire. Our community values consistent creating, encouragement and support and trying new things. I totally recommend Get Messy Art Journal if you are feeling creative and want to get into the habit of making art.

First week we were discovering light and darkness, swimming in the sea, and trying some new tutorials.

Followed Vanessa's prompt and create background using Katie's ombre tutorial.

Using my own tutorial for fake-drawing faces (it can be found on Get Messy private blog) and collaging it into my daily art journal.

This page was hugely inspired by my dear friend  TanyaLee and her fantastic new online class called Messy PagesHer watercolor techniques are to die for. So dreamy and beautiful! I highly recommend that class!

This might be my favorite page of the week. I had so much fun creating it! I used my own tutorial on "printing" faces to transfer a portrait of the girl from a magazine to  my journal. Then I had a idea - why don't I make her glasses "reflect" a galaxy? So, I masked out paper around her lenses and used watercolors to paint the galaxy. After that, I used some acrylic paints to color her face and hair in. Two galaxies weren't enough (apparently), so I used TLee's tutorial from Messy Pages to paint a triangle galaxy, and also colored her shirt that way. I finished off by a connected lettering quote around the triangle.

Week 2 of Season of Contrast is currently in progress, and I am enjoying this season much more than I've expected!
