Hello, loves!

Another season of Get Messy Art Journal has ended. Season of Gifts wasn't the one where I created very actively. Just because it was holidays season, I was moving to a new appartment, life got busy. But I' was able to really think about what I was making and use some new mediums, which is the ultimate goal this year for me.

I would probably say that this is one of my absolute favorite pages I've created this season. This page was an act of intuitive creating.

The collage pieces are inserts from my A5 ring bound planer in 2016. I was clearing up my planner for the new year, and these caught my eye with their colors and patterns. So I tore them up and just glued down to the page and left it laying around on my table. Then later I got some golden inks as presents, and the page came together in my mind.

The prompt was about giving back to others, and then this quote came to my mind. I've been dreaming of being able to draw hands for a long time now, so I googled some reference images and tried to copy what I saw. First by pencil, and then I outlined the hands with black watercolor.I finished up by scripting a quote with gold ink.

This page has a story. The week I created it I met a lovely family with a 6 year old daughter. While I was speaking with her parents, she was drawing something on loose pieces of paper. When it was time to say good-bye, she came up to me and gifted me one of her drawings. It was so sweet and immediately made me think that we are in Season of Gifts right now. What a happy coinsidence and a great idea for journaling! In the following days I cut her page a little so it could fit in my journal and just collaged a buch of papers with it.

This week's prompt was about counting your blessings. I used Vanessa's tutorial for blind drawing faces, and also tried her tip on hiding your journaling. I listed some of the things I am grateful for, but made my words really stretched and kind of overlapped. I can barely read it, and to other people it mostly looks like doodles on the background. Love the effect!
The black swirl on the opposite page is a happy accident.I just used too much black acrylic paint in another journal and wiped it off this page. I think I might use it as an art  journaling technique from now on!

I am proud that even though I wasn't as active in this season as I have been before, I managed to still stick to Get Mess Habit and create at least 1 page each week!
